Happy New Year People. Welcome to 2015

I’m sure we all had a great 2014 even with all the challenges, successes, trials and everything that came up against us but God sustained us to witness a new year.

For me, 2014 was an awesome year not because I had it all rosy but because in spite of all that happened I came out of it a better person and achieved some of the goals I set for the year.  It was simply a year of learning and unlearning so I can boldly say I came out of 2014 better than I went into it.

Even though we are not where we want to be, we are not where we used to be.

In 2015, most of us have written down resolutions, goals and things we want to do this year. It’s important to do this as this will be a measure of how the year went at the end of it. I have written things i want to do and how I want to achieve them and when I want them to happen.

If it’s not written, it doesn't exist

The sad thing is they can all remain on paper if no conscious effort is taken concerning whatever we have written. Also knowing that it cannot all be done with our human strength is important. We need God to order our steps according to His will concerning us. That also wouldn't happen unless we sincerely as Him to and are willing to follow His lead even when its contrary to what we have in our own plans because we know His plans are always good for us and it’s much better that what we have in mind.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future - Jeremiah 29:11 [NIV]. 

It might not be a smooth or easy ride as there will be oppositions, barriers and obstacles to these goals. Just like an aircraft's fligt, there might be a rough takeoff or landing and we might experience some turbulence in the course of the flight it’s just a matter of time, we will reach our destination. Remember nothing good comes easy and sometimes, we need to get out of our comfort zones, step out of the boundaries we have set for ourselves, jump out of the box that we or the society has placed us in. These actions will not always be convenient and often comes with some pain or discomfort. We might even need to put in some FIGHT.

A fight against whatever seems to be holding us back, our mindset, the status quo and the society we find ourselves.

For everyone I have spoken with about 2015, I have always told them, it’s going to be a great year, Its going to be better than 2014.

So go ahead and do what God wants you to. Go all out and achieve those goals. Take positive steps in the direction of your goals.

Thankful

2014 has been a great year so far. Its almost a month into the new year and God has been faithful.

Imagine when the things we call little or we simply ignore are withdrawn from us or become difficult, then we get to appreciate them and understand their value or worth. As the saying goes, "you don't know the value of what you have until you lose it"

You don't really appreciate the gift of being able to fall asleep until you stay up all night looking for sleep and then it doesn't come. You don't appreciate sound health until you become sick.

Most times we forget to thank God for those "little things" we are more bothered about the "tangible things", the things we can see and touch and its all because of the value we have placed on them.
Just imagine if somethings were withdrawn from you.

In every thing give thanks

Today, I thank God for life, for the blessing of the things money can buy and the things money cannot buy, for the people in my life, for EVERYTHING!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Who am I that You are mindful of me?

That was the question on my mind a day before my birthday. When you think about what God has done

for you and how far He has brought you and you know it has all been by His grace and mercy. Then you begin to wonder what you have done to deserve it.

What is mankind that you are mindful of them,human beings that you care for them? Psalm 8:4

God has been good to me. He has been with me, He is a faithful God.
Looking back at how far he has brought me and looking ahead at the the plans He has for me. I can only

thank Him.

Numbering the days and not just counting it gives us the opportunity to do a self appraisal of how God has

been faithful to us and how His goodness has been bestowed upon us. This way we would be able to apply our hearts to wisdom. The truth is we can't thank Him enough.

2012: Thankful...

2012 has been a great year. 
 I can look back at the year and say it has been God working everything out all along. 
Decisions were made, lessons were learnt, and a lot of changes recorded. 
God has been faithful to me. 
I thank Him for journey mercies. I  haven't traveled like I did in 2012. By air, land and over the waters
I have enjoyed sound health through 2012 and the few times I have been down God restored my strength.
I thank God for my family. God has kept us all
It has been a very challenging year as regards my job but God was faithful
Doors of opportunities were opened for me. I have enjoyed favour everywhere I go

If there was one thing I held on to all through the year, its the fact that God loves me and he has a great plan for my life and irregardless of what I'm going through, he is going to work it out for good.
Its been a very eventful year. Somethings didn't work out as planned but its all working our for good. 
Moving to a new location during the year wasn't easy but I'm adapting to the changes that came with it.
I thank God for provision, protection and sustenance.
I have learnt alot more about life and I hope I'll be able to apply them personally as it relates to relationships, career, business, etc
I thank God for the breath of life. Even in our unfaithfulness, God remains faithful. He never leaves us nor forsakes us. 
I thank God for the new skills I acquired in 2012 

I have not bee at my best in every area. But I thank God for His Grace and tender Mercies

Even though I'm not where I want to be, I'm not where I used to be. I remain thankful

Someone dear to me sent this to me this evening and its a Prayer that really speaks to me so I thought to share. Its a prayer Paul prayed in his letter to the Colosians

Colosians 1:9-12 Message Translation

Be assured that from the first day we heard of you, we haven't stopped praying for you, asking God to give you wise minds and spirits attuned to his will, and so acquire a thorough understanding of the ways in which God works. We pray that you'll live well for the Master, making him proud of you as you work hard in his orchard. As you learn more and more how God works, you will learn how to do your work. We pray that you'll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul—not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us.

I pray in 2013, may you not find enjoyment in the 'absence of God' in your life

Another Christmas

Its another Christmas, Thank God for the opportunity to witness another season to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
Much more than the merriment, parties,gifts, celebration, shopping,  etc. It should be a time to reflect on the purpose of the birth of our Saviour. Its good to celebrate His birth because its a season to celebrate his coming to Earth to save mankind as the bible puts it.

His birth was special. From the conception to delivery. Its all to show the power of God that with God, nothing is impossible.  Infact, thats the greatest message I learnt this Christmas.

But the purpose of His birth wasn't fulfilled when he was given birth to. It was completed when he was crucified for our sins and ressurected on the third day. Thats the complete package. As we celebrate Christmas, we should remember Christ also died for our sins.

Wisdom Series + Happy New Month

Welcome to the month of November!
God has been faithful in the last 10 months even when we choose to be unfaithful.
Our unfaithfulness has not made His faithfulness to be without effect.
It has been challenging but God has been my present help even in the time of need.I believe you can also say the same.
Look back at the last 10 months and Thank God for all he has done for you.
You might not be where you want to be but surely you are not where you used to be.
Cast your minds back, count your blessings name them and you will be surprised at what God has done for you .
Remember God is able to do what He said HE will do.

The book of Proverbs provides profound insights, advice and exceptional wisdom on how to live a happy and a peaceful life and honour God. Wisdom is commonly defined as the right application of knowledge. Can we apply what we don't know?
Join me as I go through each chapter of the book each day of this month.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.-Poverbs 4:7

A Life that counts...

I'm thankful for everything he has done in my life and the lives of people he has blessed me with. He has kept me, provided, sustained, protected, shielded, delivered, guided, nurtured me through the years. I thank God for my parents, my siblings, family and friends.

On my birthday last year I wrote a piece on a life that counts. Reflecting again on this

Life is not really lived unless it counts. It does not matter how long we have lived, but a true measure of living is how it counts; The values we have created, the things we have been able to do, the lives we have touched.

Birthdays are not only to number our days but to reflect on the days and apply our heart to wisdom.

This will give you a good picture of where you are coming from,where you are and where you are going.. but most importantly knowing who God wants you to be and becoming it.

I'm thankful...

God has been faithful through the 365 days of the year 2010.
Through trials, challenges, pains, worrries, lack, joy, successes, abundance, provision, sound health, peace...
Even when we chose to be unfaithful, our unfaithfulness will not cause the faithfulness of God to be without effect.
In all things I give thanks

Im thankful for...
the gift of life
My mother, sisters and brother(their spouses and kids)
Sound health and peace
Protection and safety in different circumstances even at gun point
Wisdom, knowledge and understanding
My job and all the people I work with
Journey mercies in and out of town
Goodnews from far and near
The enablement to acheive the things that seem impossible
The lessons learnt from the mistakes I made in 2010
The wonderful people I met in 2010, for new and old friends
The opportunities to give(time, ideas, myself, money, etc)
The readers of this blog
My twitter tweeps and friends on facebook
The grace to witness the last day of 2010
A great 2011
so much more to thank God for
